The Beaver – new trailer

The Beaver

So this is… well downright weird if you ask me. The first trailer for the Jodie Foster helmed film The Beaver has been released. It stars Mel Gibson as a man who is “hopelessly depressed”, has alienated family, friends and co-workers and has just about hit rock bottom. At the point where it looks as if he’ll fall into terminal decline he finds a beaver hand puppet and uses it to create distance between himself and his emotional problems.

The film’s release has been on hiatus for quite a while due to Gibson’s own well-documented problems which have alienated him from, yes, friends, family and co-workers. With that in mind, one wonders how Gibson and Foster will deal with the inevitable press questions.

The concept itself is bizarre enough, but is that an Aussie accent the beaver’s using? A British one? Seriously WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE????

However well meaning Foster’s intentions, this looks like car crash celluloid…

The Beaver will be released in the UK on February 12th
