Banksy Does The Simpsons

Post-Katrina graffitti

Love him or loathe him, Bristolian graffitti artist Banksy knows how to get your attention. Last night a new episode of The Simpsons aired in the US with a Banksy created opening sequence. Originally asked to do a coach gag, he extended that to nearly 2 minutes of a dark little vision.

Kudos to Matt Groening at the team for using this, which takes a hefty swipe at child exploitation in a darkly humourous fashion. While it’s not the first time The Simpsons has taken an unexpected turn (anyone remember the Sid and Nancy parody? My jaw stayed dropped for hours…) it’s certaily an unexpected twist.

The episode, MoneyBART airs on Sky 1 in the UK on October 21st
