Abertoir – National Horror Festival of Wales

Currently most of the UK Horror festival news around the ‘net is focusing on Fright Fest at the end of this month.

What with Gregg Araki withdrawing KABOOM, The Last Exorcism getting its UK premiere at the festival, and the rumours today that Westminster Council will not allow the festival to show the remake of I Spit on Your Grave uncut, it’s hardly suprising the amount of attention it’s receiving.

However, there is another key horror festival in the UK this year and as the cold, dark and creepy nights start drawing in, people will be making their way to Aberystwyth for the fifth National Horror Festival of Wales.

In previous years the festival has had notable pre-release titles such as All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and Colin. And while the schedule for this year’s festival has not yet been released, the organisers are keen to ensure that the buzz starts early. To that end they have released a teaser trailer for the festival itself.

Personally I think this is a tad on the long side, but full credit to the team for releasing something to whet the appetite with three months to go. If, like me, you can’t get to Fright Fest, better mark this one in your calendar.
